Taking wire hangers from the dry cleaner and covering them with yarn to make them cool and more useful was a craft trend in the 1970s. Yarn covered hangers are obviously colorful, charming and bohemian, but they are also practical. The yarn adds texture which keeps things from slipping off in the closet.
It was exciting to find this collection. But we only have one set for sale. Once they're gone, they're gone.
If if you miss out on these or if you're feeling artistic and crafty, we've collected some tutorials so you can make a set of your own. I'd suggest using an acrylic yarn for durability and convenience and lack of appeal to clothing moths.
One way to do it is by using half-hitch knots. Make and Fable has an excellent tutorial to do just that.
Craftknowitall has a tutorial for crocheting hanger covers on Instructibles. She suggests using multiple hangers together for heavy things like coats. She is correct about that!
