Alfred Meakin Birds of America - set of 4 - 1940s vintage
Set of 4 luncheon-sized plates from the Birds of America plates by Alfred Meakin. Reproduced from the Elephant Folio Edition of Audubon's Birds of America. Creamy white plates with embossed floral border. Center images are of the band-tailed pigeon, the white crowned sparrow, the cedar bird (aka the cedar waxwing), and the kingbird. Made in England. From the 1940s.
CONDITION Very good. Appear to have never been used as tableware, only for display. There is a 1/4" chip on the back of the edge of the white crowned sparrow plate, see pix.
