Delightful fantasy piece from the Occupied Japan era, a blonde elf in an orange pointed cap, red trousers, and polka-dot shirt riding a rhinoceros beetle and steering by its horn. Hand-painted glazed porcelain with strong color retention.
Marked on the underside in green: Made in Occupied Japan, dating this piece to 1945–1952.
SIZE 3½"W × 2¾"D × 4½"H
CONDITION Very good. No chips, nicks, or repairs. A small manufacturing crack runs along the underside of the horn — present at time of production, not damage.
