Sacred heart of Jesus shrine - shabby vintage chalkware by Pennsylvania Statuary Co.
Chalkware scared heart of Jesus shrine made by the Pennsylvania Statuary Co. Bust of Jesus with candleholders in the front and an alcove in the back with a sliding metal cover holding 2 holy water bottles. Dates from the 1950s or earlier.
Inscription around the base reads: "I will bless every place where an image of my heart shall be exposed and venerated."
The Pennsylvania Statuary Co. was a well known maker of religious statuary located in Philadelphia. Read more here.
Age is unknown, but it was owned by two generations of the same family. Chippy in places, with a 1/4" long nick in the neck.
SIZE 10.5"x 7.5"x 12" tall
CONDITION Authentically shabby. Gently cleaned with a dry paintbrush and damp microfiber cloth, but might benefit from further gentle cleaning.
