Antique oak youth chair - stick built with caned seat - early 1900s
Antique oak youth chair from the early 1900s. Turned legs and spindles, a little off center, clearly handmade. One piece bent wood armrest. Repaired stress cracks in the back. Dowels are likely hand milled. Hand caned and knotted. Seat appears to be made of recycled oak, likely what the maker had had hanging around his shop.
Shows signs of well done repairs. Originally painted red and stripped so you can see the grain. Small pin nails added for reinforcement, weakening at joints may have happened at the time of stripping.
Because of it's age and condition, it should be used only as a display or accent piece.
SIZE leg base measures 17" x 14.75". Chair back is 31" tall, seat is 21.5" high.
CONDITION Very good. Antique and lovely.
