Antique Victorian EPNS Expandable Silver Plate Trivet Set — Middletown Silverware Co & Lawrence B. Smith Co

$35.00

Keep your table in fine condition with this pair of vintage expanding silver plate trivets. Useful for hot casseroles or for elevating your plant collection. Both of these beauties are well used and shabby from it, but that only makes them more interesting. Imagine the dining table conversations they've overheard while quietly doing their jobs.

Rectangular trivet with Victorian and art nouveau floral design around the outside by Lawrence B. Smith Co. (LBS CO) of Boston (1887-1958). Marked with EPNS, Superfine and pattern No. 78. Closed length 13.5, fully expanded 14.5"

This is a well used by sturdy piece. The caps that prevent over expanding on one of the rods are missing, but present on the other one so it's fine. The center panels don't slide well. Again, it still works. And 3 of the four rubber inserts in its little feet are missing, so best to use on a tablecloth, not directly on the wood. Marks etc. on the silver plate from use. She's still pretty and sturdy with many good years ahead or we wouldn't be selling her.

Round trivet from Middletown Silverware (1899-1945ish) with a pierced flowers and flourishes design around the border. The hallmark indicates it was made sometime between 1923-1927. Marked with EPSN and pattern #388. Four little feet on the bottom. Closed length 9", open length 12.75".

Another well used sturdy piece. It slides open and closed nicely, the top has significant wear to the plated finish. She's ready to hold the casserole of mac and cheese, still bubbling from the oven.

This is a vintage item. It has a history. Please check out the photos carefully and ask questions. We want you to love your find.
