Couldn't load pickup availability
Assortment of vintage buttons in shades of white in a vintage Tang Anchor Hocking Summer Series glass jar. Buttons weigh over 1.5 pounds (not including the jar) and includes a mix of white, ivory, off-white, cream, pearlized, translucent, clear and other light neutral tones in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and styles.
Then there's the jar, a 1970s Anchor Hocking jar that was originally part of a Tang canister set promotion. This is the summer jar of what was a four seasons set. If you're unfamiliar with Tang, it's a General Mills orange flavored drink mix made famous because it went to space with the Gemini and Apollo astronauts. For NASA, it was convenient to use in zero gravity and masked the taste of the horrible water used on the missions. The astronauts, however, were not fans. As Buzz Aldrin wrote in his autobiography, "Tang Sucks." Speaking as someone who grew up on Tang, Buzz Aldrin may know how to get to the moon, but he knows nothing about powdered beverage mixes because Tang was awesome.
SIZE Jar: Approximately 7" tall with a 3.5" diameter base.
CONDITION Very good vintage condition. The buttons may show light signs of age and use consistent with vintage sewing notions. Some may have been snipped off garments. They are button box fresh. The assortment includes a variety of materials, sizes, and finishes. The Tang jar and green plastic lid are also in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
Please review the photos carefully and feel free to message with any questions before purchase. We want you to love your button jar.
