A framed display featuring half the cards from the 1939 John Player & Sons “Modern Naval Craft” cigarette card series. These detailed illustrations depict Royal Navy and international naval vessels from the pre–World War II era, showcasing destroyers, cruisers, submarines, and other modern warships of the time. These vintage maritime defense cigarette cards are mounted on a gray mat in a black frame with gilt accenting. 

John Player & Sons began issuing cigarette cards in 1893. These cards were initially a way to stiffen the packaging but quickly evolved into popular collectible items featuring a wide variety of subjects; in this case, naval technology and maritime defense.

CONDITION Good vintage condition. Some scratches on the glass and minor chipping to the black paint on the frame. Several cards have lifted slightly from the mat along the edges. Please review all photos carefully.
