Mid century Danish opera actor caricatures - set of 4 - 1940s vintage
Set of 4 vintage pen and ink caricatures of Danish opera singers. These may have been from sketchbooks or for a publication. All four are signed by different illustrators, we couldn't read any of the signatures, maybe you will have better luck. These are from the 1940s or early 1950s as one of the subjects, Else Colber, died in 1954. Framed in black painted metal with plexiglass. (Parenthesis are added comments)
We've done our best to decipher the writing on the three of them with writing (using Google Translate and not our knowledge of Danish):
Else Schøtt as Maria (or Marion) and Frede Andersen as Krūschin.
Aage Fønss as the marriage broker Kezal (in The Marriage Broker)
Else Colber and Torkil Lauritzen as "Adam and Eve in Paradise" from the premier at Riddersalen.
SIZE 9.5" x 11.75"
CONDITION The paper has some aging, but it's even. Frames have some marks.
