Vintage 1956 health poster, National Tuberculosis Association, Cover Your Coughs and Sneezes

Original mid-century public health campaign poster carries the important message: “Be fair, COVER your coughs and sneezes.” Distributed by the National Tuberculosis Association, it was part of a nationwide effort to promote better hygiene and prevent the spread of illness.

Printed on the poster is the note: “This poster is distributed by your tuberculosis association in the interest of better health for all children. It is made possible by your purchase of Christmas Seals.” A powerful reminder of both the public health challenges of the time and the grassroots fundraising that supported education and awareness.

CONDITION Good vintage condition. Small tear on the top right edge and several stains on the bottom. Poster has been stored rolled for decades. Stamp from Worcester MA on bottom right.
