Antique Victorian Transferware Charger, Large Wall Plate - Pastoral Winter Scene - Late 1800s

Striking, oversized Victorian transferware charger meant for display with the kind of scale  and colors that makes a statement on a wall or in a curio. The center is a romantic pastoral scene in soft blue tones: a couple and their dog pausing along a winter fence line, rendered in fine detail. The Victorians were fascinated by country life.

The wide border is a soft, buttery yellow with hints of green, layered with ornate spruce-blue scrollwork and a diamond-patterned inner band. Gold trim runs along the scalloped edge and highlights accents throughout the border. It's a warm, romantic palette that feels completely at home in a modern room.

There is no visible back stamp, so the maker isn't confirmed, but the transfer style, palette, and scalloped gilt edge are consistent with a piece from the late 1800s to early 1900s. It's possible it was made in one of the prominent late 19th-century earthenware hubs of Staffordshire, England, Germany or France, where pieces were regularly left blank for boutique decorating studios. Lots of unmarked decorative cabinet chargers were shipped international markets when they were trendy home decor around 1890.

CONDITION
Very good antique condition. Fine crazing overall, as expected for a piece of this age. Some wear to the gold along the edges. No chips or cracks.
