Vintage 1970s Leslie Fay for Lord & Taylor Black & White Check Day Dress - Size modern M

Classic black and white check day dress from Leslie Fay, made for Lord & Taylor. Check print is cut on the bias through the skirt for superpowered twirling.

White contrast details, a notched collar and cuffed short sleeves. Buttons down the front to an elastic waist. Small shoulder pads give it a bit of structure up top, which is meant to be blousy. The full, round-cut skirt takes over below for that fit-and-flare swish. Belt loops are there for a wide belt of your choosing, the original didn't survive the decades.

Fabric has a sheerness and a subtle slubbed texture, giving it more visual interest than a flat poly would. Add a slip or a crinoline to pump up the retro vibe.
