Antique La Francaise Porcelain Flow Blue Vegetable Bowl - Windmill & Sailboat Scene - Turn of the Century Decor

$25.00

La Francaise flow blue oval vegetable bowl was manufactured by The French China Company of Sebring, Ohio, circa late 19th to early 20th century. The piece features a deep cobalt flow blue border with a gilded scalloped rim and embossed scrollwork with gold scroll accents. The central pastoral transferware scene depicts a sailing ship, a small cottage and a Dutch windmill.

Backstamp Fleur-de-lis with "La Francaise Semi-Vitreous" printed mark.

This is an unusual piece, because most flow blue pieces were imported from England. The aesthetic is unadulterated cottage or grandmillenial, although this patina drenched bowl would also be at home in a French country home.

A note on display and care: Due to the heavy crazing characteristic of semi-vitreous pottery of this age, this piece is recommended for display only. Clean with a damp cloth. Don't submerge in water.

SIZE 9" x 6.75" x 2"

CONDITION Honestly antique. Heavily crazed throughout, consistent with age. Gilt edge and gold accents show wear. A handful of small chips/flea bites around the rim, predominantly on the underside, marked with blue tape in the photos. No cracks or repairs noted.
