Sicilian cart panel - Challenge of Aeneas and the Wolf - caretto Siciliano

Carved panel from a Sicilian cart (caretto Siciliano) showing the challenge of Aeneas and the wolf in the center with dragons at either end. Thick wood is carved and painted. Colors are muted and antiqued looking. Under the centerpiece is the inscription "Sfida di Enea e Lupo." Age is uncertain. Certainly vintage, possibly antique.

SIZE 33.5" x 6" x 1.75"

CONDITION The dragon on the right is missing its head. There are some cracks in the thickness of the wood. One on the right has been glued. There is another one along the bottom and one on the top.
