Historic Boston: The City of Culture promotional booklet from Boston Woven Hose & Rubber Company - 1940s vintage
Vintage 1940s customer handout "Historic Boston: The City of Culture," written by Ralph E. Conder, the Sales Promotion Manager of the Boston Woven Hose & Rubber Company, Cambridge MA.
Printed paper cover states it was "For presentation to our good friends and customers who visit us from all over the world." A very courteous gesture to visitors, you must admit.
Inside papers are typed and mimeographed on one side of the paper. Back sides of the paper have linen and photochromic postcards showing the sites. Pages have 2 holes punched and were originally held together with brass paper fasteners. Over time the pages have loosened.
We're dating this to the 1940s because Mr. Conder was employed by the company from prior to 1916 until his death in 1948 (thank you internet). That and the mix of postcards are how we're judging it's age. We could be wrong. Even master sleuths occasionally miss their mark.
SIZE 8.5" x11"
CONDITION As a booklet, it's coming undone. The pages have tears and aging on the edges, as does the cover. The postcards are lovely, but they were glued to the paper on a strip up the middle (mucilage?). They would probably come off but there will be glue residue.
This is a vintage item. It has been used and loved and it has a history. Please examine photos carefully and ask questions, as we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.
