Mid-Century Modern Italian Lava Glaze Lidded Trinket Jar Storage Pot 1950s-1960s

Vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian art pottery. This lidded trinket jar features a Brutalist design, heavily influenced by the iconic work of Italian workshops like Fratelli Fanciullacci and Bitossi during the 1950s and 1960s.

The lower body features hand-incised, geometric triangle patterns highlighted in a vibrant teal/turquoise and deep red glaze. The upper rim and lidded top are heavily coated in a thick, cratered "volcanic" lava glaze in rich ochre yellow and earthy tan tones. Inside is smooth glaze.

The underside of the raw terracotta base features a black ink stamp reading "MADE IN ITALY," as is often seen on mid-century imports brought to the North American market by high-end design distributors like Raymor and Rossini Originals.
