Interesting piece of mid-century Austrian hospitality history, a small vintage porcelain advertising/souvenir dish was custom-commissioned for the legendary fine-dining institution Restaurant "Zu den 3 Husaren" (The Three Hussars), located in the heart of Vienna, Austria until 2010.
The front has a green transferware illustration depicting three hussars on horseback, bordered by the text: RESTAURANT „ZU DEN 3 HUSAREN“ WIEN.
What was the dish used for and what could it be used for? It could be a Small Dish / Butter Pat / Trinket Dish / Ashtray. Very versatile for something so small.
There are two backstamps:
- Johann Haviland Bavaria – green underglaze factory crown mark.
- Rasper & Söhne / Wien I. - Graben 15 – overglaze distributor stamp from the iconic luxury homeware boutique on Vienna's exclusive Graben street.
SIZE 5.25" diameter
