Leyser Hot Water Bottle Bedwarmer - galvanized metal - 1900s
Vintage Leyser Hot Water Bottle Bedwarmer from the early 1900s. Round canteen shape with screw top plug. Loop on back for hanging.
Stamped into the screw top is A. Schrader's Son Inc. NY and information about international patents. August Schrader was a NYC manufacturer who originally made tire valves in conjunction with the Goodyear Brothers. The company patented a pneumatic valve for bike tires that is still known as the Schrader valve. You can read more about the company's history here.
This handy little warmer was definitely used and loved by someone, because the finish is worn through in places. Whether or not it had a concave top or not originally we couldn't say, but it does now.
