Carved owl on a birch log - 1990s vintage bird decor

Vintage 1990s carved owl has the most inquisitive look in his plastic eyes, as he perches on a segment of birch log. Signed "Sprague '92". The birch bark is curling in the front, but we believe this was part of the design, as the wood underneath has a finish on it. 

Discussions have been held and we are unable to decide if this is resin or wood. Whatever he is, he's very fetching with excellent detailing. His claws and beak are fabulous.

SIZE 6.5" tall to top of ear tufts x 4.5" wide.

CONDITION Gently used as decor.
