Wooden shipping crate - antique from the textile industry - circa 1900 or earlier
Antique wooden shipping crate from the turn of the century. Rough wooden box used in the Lowell textile trade (we know this because it came down in the family from one of the mill owners). Shipping labels on one side. Remnants of wall paper on the outside. Newspaper lining on the inside. Once hinged with leather straps, the top is now loose. At least one square nail visible.
This box is part of the history of textiles in America, playing a small role in its time. That is it still here to tell its story is one of the best things about true antiques and vintage.
