Fred Harvey Grand Canyon Album Natural Color Prints for framing - vintage 1950s
A piece of Southwest travel history, the Grand Canyon Album of Natural Color Prints for Framing was originally sold as a tourist souvenir in Fred Harvey stores, originally along the Santa Fe Railway route. The set, likely from the late 1940s or early 1950s, includes eight full-color photographic prints capturing the dramatic vistas of the Grand Canyon. Designed specifically for framing, each print features a wide neutral border, making them easy to mat and display.
There is foxing on the outer border surrounding the images, but the prints themselves remain in very good condition. A proper sized mat could fully cover the affected border area. The prints are hole punched on the far left side of the border and held in a construction paper type portfolio with a cord.
More than art, this scrapbook of prints is a memento from the days of rail travel and the mid century days of road tripping tourism.
