Vintage Aase og Preben Jangaard Denmark Christmas Angels Wall Hanging Bell MCM
Couldn't load pickup availability
Vintage mid-century hand-printed textile Christmas wall hanging, believed to be by Danish design duo Aase & Preben Jangaard based on construction and design conventions consistent with signed examples of their work. This piece does not have a maker's label currently attached, but is likely from the 1960s-1970s.
Dark blue fabric ground printed with a light blue Christmas tree at center. Four pairs of angels fly around the tree: three pairs placing lit candles on the branches, and one pair setting a star at the top. Each angel has a distinct printed border pattern on the hem of her dress and sleeve - no two are alike. Fabric is mounted top and bottom on gold-painted wooden dowels, with a bell attached at the bottom center. Hanging cord attached at top.

SIZE Fabric measures 5.5" x 16" tall. Dowels are 1/2" diameter x 6.5" wide; bell is 1" tall.
CONDITION Good vintage condition. Some minor dings/wear to the wooden dowels consistent with age and handling. One area near the top of the fabric shows uneven color loss on the dark blue ground - likely where a fabric label was once attached and has since been removed; this is a surface/color change only, not a tear or hole. Stitching along all edges is fully intact and solid. White printed areas have aged to a soft off-white, typical of vintage textiles this age. A small fabric slub is visible on the tree motif - this is a raw-material weaving characteristic from manufacture, not damage.
This is a vintage item. It has been used and loved and it has a history. Every attempt is made to describe it accurately. Please examine photos carefully and ask questions. We want you to love your bell pull.
