Vintage 1970s Studio Pottery Boy on Tricycle Figurine - Speckled Stoneware Sculpture - Folk Art - Handmade
Couldn't load pickup availability
Handbuilt stoneware figure captures a small boy on his tricycle, going places and doing things. Modeled in a rounded folk art style that has 1970s studio pottery sensibility; unhurried, tactile, and full of personality.
The speckled stoneware clay body is the key here: unglazed on the skin and hair, where the rusty brown and white flecks and natural texture take center stage, and finished with a soft celadon/sage green glaze on the shirt and trike. The hair has a warm amber-brown glaze. The combination of glazed and raw surfaces is a hallmark of the era's pottery aesthetic.
No maker's marks. Almost certainly American studio or craft fair origin, circa 1970s.
A sweet piece for a nursery, nestled on a shelf or anyone who loves the warmth of handmade vintage pottery or boys on trikes.
