"Syndicate No. 50" textile trademark stamp - Saml G. Cooper - antique cotton mills history

Regular price $250.00

From New England's industrial past, wood and metal textile trademark stamp for "Syndicate No. 50." Large bales of cotton (in Lowell, MA we're told) would be stamped with this to identify the maker. It's a seriously substantial slab of wood with thin copper bands applied to be the stamp design.

On back: Sam'l G. Cooper, Manufacturer of Superior Stamps and Stencils, (name I can't read) St., Lowell, Massachusetts. (I think it was Central Street, based on this incredible blog).

This textile trademark stamp came down in the family from the original mill owner and was finished with a light varnish and paint inside the raised letters.

SIZE 15" x 12" x 2"

CONDITION Very good. Very antique. Very unusual. Very cool.
